From founding engineer to CTO: Steven Vo steps up to lead the engineering stronghold behind GeoComply’s expansion into new verticals and the AI era.

Vancouver, B.C. – September 10, 2026 – GeoComply Solutions Inc., the global leader in geolocation and identity intelligence, today announced the promotion of Steven Vo to Chief Technology Officer. Steven was one of GeoComply’s original hires in 2012, and has led the engineering organization since returning in 2021, most recently as Senior Vice President of Engineering. As CTO, he will accelerate GeoComply’s expansion into new verticals, shaping how GeoComply builds with AI and defends against it.

Steven was on the founding team that launched GeoComply’s first geolocation compliance solution for New Jersey in 2013, the first regulated U.S. online iGaming market. He spent six years away, leading engineering teams at Amazon and Uber on large-scale, real-time systems, and came back to GeoComply in 2021 to run Risk and Anti-fraud engineering. Since then he has spearheaded the engineering function behind GeoComply’s expansion into financial services, media & entertainment and beyond. He has also set the technical direction for how the company’s location, device, and behavioural intelligence adapts to the new technological era of AI.

Much of that work has happened alongside customers’ own engineering teams. Steven has made it standard practice to put GeoComply engineers directly in the room with the customer’s technical teams, so that each integration is designed around how that customer operates rather than fitted to a template. The result is a solution that is easier to run and more effective in the customer’s day-to-day operations, because it was built around them from the beginning.

“Our customers rely on us for decisions that carry real regulatory and financial weight, and the person setting our technical direction should have lived those stakes for years, and Steven has,” said Kip Levin, Chief Executive Officer of GeoComply. “As we expand into new verticals and build for the AI era, that is exactly the kind of leadership our customers should expect.”

“Steven has been building GeoComply’s technology since almost the beginning, and he understands better than anyone where it needs to go next,” said David Briggs, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of GeoComply. “Our customers are moving into new markets and facing fraud that gets smarter every month. Having a CTO who both built the foundation and knows our customers’ technical teams by name is exactly what this next stage calls for. I could not be more excited to have Steven in this role.”

“Steven was in the room when we built the first version of this technology and GeoComply was still proving that compliant geolocation could work at all,” said Anna Sainsbury, Co-founder and Executive Chair of GeoComply. “He came back to lead the versions that took us beyond gaming, and he has never lost sight of why it matters or who it is for. Promoting Steven to CTO reflects both where GeoComply started and where it’s going.”
